About Me

Digital Marketing & More

Hello, I am Mary Jo Malooly!

I was born and raised on the Southern border in the town of El Paso, Texas, which borders New Mexico and Juarez, Mexico. I come from a large, entrepreneurial Lebanese family that is deeply rooted in the city. My great grandfather, Esau Malooly, migrated to El Paso from Rashaya, Lebanon in the early 1900s. He created several businesses in El Paso that my family still currently owns and operates today.

I grew up in the same house that my father was raised in and have lived most of my life surrounded by extremely hard working individuals. Whether it be my “Situ” (grandmother) in the kitchen, my dad in the office, or my cousin at a football game, dedication and a strong work ethic is something I greatly value.

Aside from the Lebanese culture, growing up in El Paso has also allowed me to understand and appreciate the Latino culture. The population of the city is 85% Hispanic. I love the Mexican cuisine and have naturally picked up the Spanish language.

Being genetically predisposed to entrepreneurship and wanting to explore a new city for college, I decided to attend university at McCombs School of Business at the University of Texas at Austin. UT is where my interest in marketing all began. I realized the field of Marketing suits me and my personality because it offers the most creative aspects in the vast world of “Business.” I enjoy working with quantities and data as well as utilizing my creative side to discover new ways to grow a brand. I love figuring out ways to connect with consumers, working on teams with progressively minded people, and building long lasting relationships in and out of the workforce.

After graduating from UT Austin, I worked in Sales for two years and realized that Sales was not the right fit for me. I took some time to travel to South America and work on my fluency in the Spanish language. After returning to the United States, I decided to pursue my interest in Marketing and enroll in Somerville Digital Marketing Academy. I have recently graduated from the academy and I am ready to apply my skills in the workforce and share what I have learned with the world.

I always seek to create strong connections with other human beings around the globe and highly value the process of collaboration. I am a firm believer that working together to achieve a common goal will lead to better results.

Aside from my passion for marketing and creating connections, I love to travel and explore new places. I enjoy documenting my travels through photography and videography and have been known to make short compilation films of family vacations. Food has always been an important aspect of my life and culture, so an important part of my way into understanding a new place is through food. I choose to live a highly active lifestyle. I received my 200 Hour yoga instructor certification in 2017. You can also find me hiking the mountains, hitting on the tennis court, playing volleyball, or running the beach!

I am currently located in San Diego, California and hope to find an opportunity that allows me to stay in sunny Southern California!
